CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BEGINNERS SAMBA:

This class introduces students to the basic samba step as well as learning to coordinate body movements with the fast rhythms of Brazilian samba music. This is great class for first-time students and for returning students who want extra practice before trying out the next level. "Never a dull moment!!!"

ADVANCED BATUCADA:

This class is a high energy class that teaches advanced techniques and choreographies to the fast rhythms of Batucada (percussion) music typically played for CARNAVAL. "Guaranteed to make you sweat." *This is an advanced level class and is not recommended for beginners.

INTERMEDIATE SAMBA: This class is an essential bridge between the beginning and advanced classes. It adds twists, turns, shakes and style to the motions and basic samba step taught in the beginning class. "It is fast paced and fun."

FAQ's

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED?
Q
: Do I need a partner?

A: No, class is based on an individual's progress in a group setting.

Q: What should I wear?

A: You should wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Fitted clothing may also help you to see your movements. Ladies may also want to try dancing in heels. We recommend that you bring two different pairs of shoes the first time so you can determine what works best for you. Be sure to bring water!!

Q: How long will it take me to learn how to dance?

A: Dancing is a continuous learning process and each individual learns at a different pace. Students may have different goals in mind when they come to the studio. Edilson pays close attention to individual as well as group progress and teaches accordingly.

In addition to class time, we encourage all of our students to try out their new samba skills and have fun while Chicago Samba plays live at various locations.

Q: What happens if I miss one of my scheduled classes?
We give you the opportunity to make-up the class/es you miss when we receive prompt notice (in advance or the day after your absence) via email,(samba@edilsonlima.com). Please include the date you missed and your intended make-up date in your message. We ask that all make-up classes be attended before the end of the following session. We do not offer refunds so please check your schedules carefully before registering for each four week session. Classes may be passed on to a friend if you cannot attend all you have to do is send us that information in an email.
